The setting of this section of reading is the courthouse. Before the trail, Atticus was needed at the jail late one evening. Discuss this event and why Mr. Cunningham and Mr. Underwood were major people in this scene.
Next, discuss the trail. Why is Tom Robinson in court and why is the fact that Bob Ewell is left handed play such an important role in this case? Do you think Tom Robinson will be found guilty or innocent? Why?

ReplyDeleteIt is inporant that Bob Ewell is left handed because the guy who beat the girl had to be left handed because the guy led with his left hand, and Tom Robinson does not have a left hand so Tom could not have had done it.
These people were major people in this scene because it descusses that even the poor white men thought that the black were trash. Next In the court Acticus is stressing the left hand thing because Tom couldn't of hit Maylel on the right side of the face because tom didn't have a left hand. Altogether I think that tom will be guilty because of the strong black and white issue.
ReplyDeleteThese people were major people in this scene because it tells white thought the blacks were junk. The trial went on to seem like forever. The main reason Tom Robinson was found guilty because he was black and lived in the racist south. Tom Robinson faced injustices in the court because the jury knew that he was innocent and that Bob Ewell was really only beating his daughter, but they had to say that he was guilty because he was a black man and a white mans word is always more "valid" than a black mans word in the courts at that time. I think Tom will be found innocent.

ReplyDeleteIt is important to know that Bob Ewell is left handed because the person that beat the girl had to be left handed because they led with his left hand. But, Tom Robinson doesn't lead with his left hand, he leads with his right, so he couldn't have done it.
They were major people in the scene because they were two white guys who think that black people like Tom are awful people.
